In hydraulic elevators, fluid-driven pistons inside of a cylinder help the system move up and down; this is different from traction elevators that use a pulley to move the elevator from floor to floor. At Buckley Elevator, we provide piston and in-ground cylinder replacements for all commercial hydraulic elevators.
Since the hydraulic cylinder and piston are responsible for lifting and lowering the elevator car, they need to be in great condition to keep the elevator operating safely. These components allow for precise control of speed and stopping, ensuring the elevator car moves smoothly from floor to floor. When both the cylinder and piston are not working properly, this can put your riders at risk.
Some hydraulic cylinder issues can include the following: oil leaks from damaged cylinder walls or loose fittings, drops in hydraulic fluid levels, contaminated hydraulic fluid from dirt and debris entering the cylinder, unusual noises, and corrosion and wear and tear of the cylinder.
Our elevator technicians at Buckley Elevator will handle your cylinder and piston replacement in-house from start to finish. The replacement process includes the following steps:
Step 1: Secure the elevator car at the top of the hoistway
Step 2: Remove the cylinder
Step 3: Drain the hydraulic fluid from the cylinder placing a container below it
Step 4: Install new cylinder
Step 5: Fill the new cylinder with oil
During our replacement process, we will be as efficient and safe as possible, minimizing disruptions and downtime. Call us today to evaluate your replacement project, and we will provide pricing and lead time within 48 hours.
