Choosing the Right Elevator Maintenance Program
October 10, 2023To ensure that your elevator is a safe space for your passengers, in addition to specific repairs, you need to have regular maintenance checks. An experienced technician will be assigned to your elevator to proactively monitor the system, adjust and replace minor components, and identify areas of concern.
Proactive elevator maintenance programs prevent extended downtime and costly breakdowns, and we tailor the whole program to your needs.
The Importance of an Elevator Maintenance Program
A well-structured elevator maintenance program is of paramount importance in ensuring the safety, reliability, and longevity of interior transportation systems. Elevators are an indispensable part of modern infrastructure, and a comprehensive elevator maintenance program is crucial to keep yours running smoothly.
Such programs usually include services that inspect both the interior and exterior of the cab, the machine room, the pit, as well as the top of the car. Some common services include checking oil levels, part replacements, and checking cable wear. All of these inspections and more contribute to the following aspects.
Safety
Without a guarantee of running properly, your elevator cannot safely transport any passengers. Not every potential hazard is easily noticeable so it’s important to be proactive.
Reliability
Consistent maintenance minimizes downtimes and prevents inconvenient breakdowns. This ensures uninterrupted travel, particularly in high-traffic buildings.
Cost-Efficiency
Elevator repairs can be pretty expensive. With regular maintenance checks you can prevent major issues that will definitely cost significantly more than a maintenance program.
Longevity
Elevators are significant investments. Proper and consistent maintenance ensure that they last through their predicted lifespan if not longer.
What to Consider Before Choosing a Maintenance Program
The first thing you want to consider when choosing an elevator maintenance program is the company you are entrusting with your system. Maintaining your elevator means they should be knowledgeable about all different types of systems and perform the job with precision and skill.
At Buckley Elevator we can guarantee that and more. Our work ethic, job enthusiasm, skill level, leadership and customer service are all key values that we bring to every jobsite. Additionally, we take pride in being skilled professionals who can take on a project whether the elevator is 30 years or 30 months old.
In addition to choosing the right company, you then have to consider a few factors about your elevator to determine which program fits best. Things to consider include daily foot traffic, use, age, budgeting requirements, past performance and equipment type, to name a few.
Once we complete the detailed discussion with you, we can assist you in choosing the perfect elevator maintenance program.
Types of Elevator Maintenance Programs
At Buckley Elevator we offer two different types of elevator maintenance programs. We want to give you the opportunity to choose the one that you see fit for your establishment.
Full Maintenance
A “Full Maintenance” elevator maintenance program is our holistic monitoring option. This agreement provides a routine maintenance program as well as includes any service calls related to issues that occur between maintenance visits. The advantage of a Full Maintenance agreement is that it is basically a two for one; you are able to get a fixed cost for elevator maintenance with complimentary service visits.
Oil and Grease
An “Oil and Grease” elevator maintenance program includes all maintenance in the fixed cost, but any service calls are billed in addition to the maintenance contract. The initial price of the maintenance contract is lower but as the elevator owner you would be taking the financial risk for any service calls.
